Whenever you’re in a new and wonderful place, there are always many different emotions that bubble to the surface. You’re nervous and excited. You’re happy to be somewhere new, but sad to leave behind the old. You feel both confident and scared.
We at Student Solutions know what those feelings are like, and we want to help you with finding the best possible student accommodation in Australia to make sure that at the end of it all, you have a safe and comfortable place that you’re happy to come home to.
Once you’re settled in though, one of the first questions that many international students ask is “how do I get around this place?” With that in mind, I thought I’d write this blog to offer you some tips!
First of all, make sure that you take the time to get to know your new city. Going for walks with friends in safe neighborhoods during daylight hours can be an excellent way to get to know your new surroundings during your first few days. These walks also give you a great idea of what kind of shopping and amenities are near by, all while giving you a chance to enjoy the beautiful Australian weather!
Your accommodation provider is also a great resource for telling you about nearby things that can be helpful in your every day life, so make sure to ask them about what’s nearby before you move in!
Another great idea is to act like a tourist in your new town, and sign up for cheap tours that will show you all that your new city has to offer. You can then take that knowledge and become really popular by showing all the cool places you’ve found to your friends!
Finally, if you’re looking to explore more than just your city, make sure to keep an eye on seat sales that airlines are having. I often took advantage of these while I was an international student in Adelaide, making trips to places like Sydney and Melbourne for very little money! It was a great way to maximize my travel budget, and all I had to do was keep an eye on the airline websites every now and then!
If you have any great tips on how to see more of Australia, make sure to post them to our Facebook page!
Take care, and happy exploring! 🙂
