One of the biggest questions that I’ve ever faced as an international student is “how much traveling should I do?”
There are SO many options for places to go, and things to see, in Australia alone, not to mention all of the beautiful surrounding countries! But as we all know, money can be a bit tight sometimes when you’re an international student, so it’s not always possible to see everything that you’d like to! So how do you go about deciding where you want to go and what you want to see?
First of all, I took the approach of making sure that while I was in Australia I wanted to see as much of it as possible. I know that I’ll have a chance later to see the other surrounding countries, but I wanted to make sure that I didn’t miss out on the place that I’d actually come to live!
Now that we’ve established that strategy, make sure to look for great deals through your university of school! Often times universities will offer amazing discounts to give their international students an opportunity to get out and see the surrounding areas. Make sure to take advantage of these!
The other great tip I wanted to share was to follow your state international student organization closely for deals! As an example, I got to see some great places in South Australia thanks to the great program set up at StudyAdelaide. These are usually short trips with meals, accommodation, and transportation included, which means that you know exactly how much your adventure will cost!
These are just a couple quick ideas, so make sure to share some of your favourite tips for traveling as an international student on our Facebook page, or in the comment section below!
